Good news for Australian patients that rely on medications from the Pharmaceutical Benefits scheme (PBS). Thanks to the National Health Amendment (Safety Net Thresholds) Bill 2019 which was part of a promise by the Coalition Government during the 2019 federal election campaign.
From 1st January 2020 the new PBS Safety Net thresholds are as follows:
- $316.80 for concessional patients (used to be $390) – this equates to 48 qualifying prescriptions, 12 prescriptions less than the previous 60 needed to reach the Safety Net.
- $1486.80 for general patients (used to be $ $1550.70)
